This event, presented in collaboration with hint.wien and poet-performer-researcher Shefali Banerji, offers a unique opportunity to experience this critically acclaimed gig-theatre performance on the big screen, completely free of charge. The screening will be prefaced with an introduction of Malaika Kegode by Shefali.

About Outlier

Malaika Kegode’s Outlier is a spoken word/gig-theatre show, originally performed live with prog-rock band Jakabol at Bristol Old Vic (2021-2022) and Theatre Royal Plymouth (2024). The performance is a deeply personal and poignant exploration of adolescence, isolation, addiction, and finding belonging.

This cinematic adaptation of Outlier brings to life Kegode’s autobiographical journey through first loves, house parties, heartbreak, and the search for community. Featuring a powerful blend of live music and storytelling, the show captures the essence of feeling like an outcast, yet finally finding your people.
