Lavender Lounge – Queer Arts & Crafts Social

April 1 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm CEST

Why “Lavender”?

Lavender has a long and powerful history in queer culture. Before rainbow flags existed, the color quietly symbolized queer identity, solidarity, and resistance. It showed up in the fashion of queer circles in the 1940s and 50s, became a coded sign of recognition, and later transformed into a symbol of strength during the “Lavender Scare,” when queer people were targeted and fired from U.S. government jobs.

Today, lavender stands for resilience, creativity, and community care. Lavender Lounge honors that legacy by offering a warm, creative space for queer expression — whether you’re a seasoned artist or just experimenting.

Every Second Wednesday · 16:00–18:00 · Free Entry · Villa Vida Café

Lavender Lounge is Villa Vida’s cozy, community-centered queer arts-and-crafts hangout — a free creative space for anyone who wants to make art, relax, and connect with other queer people in Vienna.
Every second Wednesday, you can bring your own supplies, settle into a calm corner, and work on whatever brings you joy: painting, knitting, sketching, journaling, crochet, collage, or any DIY craft you love. No experience needed, no pressure, no expectations.

This is a soft, introvert-friendly space where newcomers and regulars mix easily. If you’re looking for a low-stress queer social event, this is it.
