Marsha was a pioneering human rights defender who has a unique place in the history of lgbtqia+ rights and human rights. After writing ‘A Thousand Ships’ and procuring the original artwork from Brandon, JG Danso worked closely with queer creatives @lavienisima to enhance the poem’s message through this powerful image.
Brandon is a queer illustrator who loves queer history and queer icons. The illustration is his medium for honoring people in the lgbtqia+ community as best as he can. He sees his art as his way of trying to pay back the struggles they endured and not take any of it for granted as we continue fighting for more acceptance and equality.
