It’s about making something tactile and spending time together\, not about perfection. \n\n\n\nThis session is brought to you by Ona (she/her) and Toni (she/her). \n\n\n\nOna is a talented writer and translator who’s been passionate about fibre arts for over a decade. Set during the Biafran civil war in Nigeria\, the novel follows Ijeoma as her life shifts after the loss of her father. Sent away by her mother in search of safety and stability\, Ijeoma forms a deep bond with Amina. Their connection challenges faith\, family expectations\, and personal belief. This session centers love\, survival\, queerness\, and coming of age under pressure. Self-Conscious Living & Black Lesbian Feminist Joy \n\n\n\nThis February\, Queer Writers Circle Vienna is centring Black history\, Black feminist thought\, and Black queer joy through poetry. \n\n\n\nFacilitated by Jessica Nogueira Varela\, this interactive workshop engages with Audre Lorde’s lectures and poetry readings in Germany (1984–1992)—a period when Lorde lived\, taught\, and wrote as a Black lesbian feminist migrant in Western Europe. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore poetry not as something to perfect\, but as Lorde described it: a way of living self-consciously and a tool for expanding our political imagination beyond the present moment. Working with poems like “Stations” and “Today is Not the Day”\, we’ll reflect on self-definition\, accountability\, care\, and the building of collective spaces for joy—even\, and especially\, in difficult times. \n\n\n\n✨ Feeling-first reading & writing

✨ No prior writing experience needed \n\n\n\nThroughout the session\, participants may (if they choose) contribute to a collectively created\, process-based Zine that circulates during the workshop.
