DESCRIPTION:*Unfortunately\, this event is cancelled* \nArtist Statement:\nGovernance is the art collective of Rebecca Uliasz and Quran Karriem. We collectively build electronic compositions\, installations\, and media driven interventions that take the form of audio-visual performances and multimedia publications.  \nOur performance work includes custom electronic instruments\, analog synthesizers\, and computer systems\, affected in real time by gesture\, movement\, and interwoven patching. We use mixtures of generative and sequenced audio and video techniques to explore ideas around technical\, social\, and biological systems\, reconceived as audiovisual structures. Audiovisual synthesis works as a method for rendering form and environment through granular textures.  \nIn our practice we explore the concept of noise as a genre\, a method\, and a term derived from cybernetic sciences. Noise is conceived as both the perturbations that steer a system\, causing it to mutate in form\, and a means by which we filter meaning from non-meaning\, both aesthetically\, technically and politically.  \nWe view the works of Governance as an exaggeration of the performativity of knowledge production; an investigation of the gestures\, affects and embodied dispositions that are culturally legible as ‘knowledge work’ and imbued with a veneer of ‘objectivity’. We seek to “shift the frame” away from the norms of scientific discourse to question the conditions of the production of knowledge itself.  \nThe name Governance embodies our extended interest in how technological and social systems enact forms of power and powerlessness. We are committed to an artistic and scholarly practice rooted in ethics of collectivity and care.

Die Produktion handelt vom persönlichen und beruflichen Umfeld mehrerer Frauen in Los Angeles\, von denen viele lesbisch\, bisexuell und transgeschlechtlich sind.  \nDas Villa Vida Cafe bietet dafür einen separaten Raum mit Glaswänden und Projektor – derzeit für idealerweise 20 und maximal 50 geteste\, geimpfte oder genesene people.\nWir vergeben Plätze einfach nach Ankunft\, bis es voll ist.\nAllerdings gibt es auch einen sehr schönen Freiluftinnenhof\, sollten wir diese Zahl tatsächlich knacken. DESCRIPTION:Living and Growing in the Stasis of the Pandemic – A Transnational Filmproject \nAugust 4 @ 7:00 pm CEST – Free \nThe year 2020 is one that most of us would probably prefer to forget. Corona hit hard\, but the restrictions to contain the virus have not affected everyone equally. Existing structural problems mean some people have more to fear in a pandemic than others. The pandemic has also highlighted human helplessness against the power of nature: confusion\, uncertainty\, panic about this existential threa; all set against the backdtop of an environmental crisis. \n  \nOver the course of 30mins\, the short film Living and Growing in the Stasis of the Pandemic presents the experiences of eleven protagonists from Germany\, Ireland\, Belgium\, Tunisia\, Egypt\, Uganda\, Rwanda and Peru. It is a participatory and transnational documentary looking at the complexities of isolation. Participants speculate about a supposed new normality\, presented in short biographical excerpts\, visual diary entries\, artwork and musical contributions. \n  \nBeginning in Spring 2020\, the audience follows the story of Perschya\, a young filmmaker\, who describes his biographical experiences during the first lockdown – having just moved from Darmstadt to Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg for his Master’s degree. The short film follows his personal struggles in a new city that seems far removed from nature. Juvilsu\, a young Venezuelan woman living in Peru\, talks about homeless people and also tells of her work recycling in Lima. In another story\, Nora\, a trans* woman from Egypt\, explains the difficulties experienced by people from the LGBTQI* community who\, for example\, can no longer access AIDS medication due to Corona overload in hospitals. In this context\, a great passion for film editing developed over the years. Georgmaria Prock has officially been a film student in Vienna since autumn 2020. Will she ever find the true love she seeks among the machinations of war? \nAbout the Author:\nBorn and raised in Malta to a Maltese father and British mother\, Moyra Sammut had an idyllic childhood\, with both cultures instilled in her and her siblings. The blend of the two cultures\, together with a fascination for World War II\, was thus deeply rooted\, as real-life events were passed on to her from both grandfathers\, who actively participated in the war; one as an air raid recruit based in Malta and the other fighting in Anzio with the British Army. Ms. Sammut traveled extensively during her employment as a travel journalist\, where she would document far-to-reach destinations in such vivid descriptions that it earned her a middle page weekly spread in local newspapers\, which is where her love for writing became apparent as her popularity spread.
