Or\, put another way\, what are those queer futures which we both desire and see a path –howe ver faint–towards? Dear Future is a workshop about the queer futures that we can see from the here and now. Drawing on José Esteban Muñoz’s understanding of queer futurity as neither utopian or anti-utopian\, this workshop aims to explore what the queer futures of tomorrow\, next week\, or a month from now might be. The futures we hope to imagine together in this workshop are those we can make with the tools and means of today. They are the near-futures of participating in meal trains for sick friends\, organizing monthly board game nights to build community\, or finding personal ways to get over a breakup. They’re the small futures\, the little steps that get us well\, get us together\, and get us free. The two-part workshop is structured around making post cards that relate to the queer\, near-futures that we discuss. In the first part of the workshop\, participants will work together to illustrate the post cards with drawings or notes from the conversations we have. The second part of the workshop will offer time for individual reflection on the specific futures participants imagine for themselves. At the end of the workshop session we will collect all the postcards\, and then mail them to the participants one year later. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n14:30-16:00: Schreibtherapeutischer Workshop: Selbstfürsorge im Aktivismus: Ein Aspekt\, der im Aktivismus oftmals übersehen wird\, ist es auf die eigenen Grenzen und Ressourcen zu achten und dies führt dazu\, dass viele Aktivistinnen schnell ausbrennen. Anhand von verschiedenen Gedichten queerer Autorinnen möchte ich eine Konversation zu dem Thema Nachhaltigkeit und Selbstfürsorge im Aktivismus anstoßen und auf Gemeinsame Erfahrungen eingehen. Die Teilnehmenden werden während des Workshops selbst kurze Texte schreiben und können sie auf freiwilliger Basis miteinander teilen. Dabei geht es nicht um Schreibtalent oder grammatikalische Richtigkeit\, sondern darum sich frei auszudrücken und ein Ventil für Gedanken und Emotionen kennenlernen zu können. Schreibtherapie wird sowohl im medizinisch-therapeutischen Bereich genutzt\, als auch für Personen\, die sich weiter entwickeln und/oder sich mit sich selbst auseinandersetzen wollen. Using various poems by queer authors\, I would like to initiate a conversation on the topic of sustainability and self-care in activism and explore shared experiences. During the workshop\, participants will write short texts of their own and can share them with each other voluntarily. This isn’t about writing talent or grammatical correctness\, but about expressing oneself freely and finding an outlet for thoughts and emotions. Writing therapy is used both in the medical-therapeutic field and for individuals who want to develop further and/or explore their inner selves. With a background in feminist writing and mental health support\, Michèle has spent years using storytelling as a tool for empowerment and self-discovery. She has facilitated workshops on queerness\, neurodivergence\, identity\, and self-esteem in schools\, with the Samaritan Association\, in private practice\, and as part of a therapist collective. Michèle believes in the transformative power of writing\, especially for those who often feel unheard or misunderstood in traditional settings. Her approach blends guided prompts\, open-ended exploration\, and collaborative sharing\, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual group. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nQueer Futures ProgramDownload\n\n\n\nWorkshop Descriptions\n\n\n\n16:00-18:00: Drag Workshop by Annie Smokes: Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just curious about stepping into the world of drag\, this intimate\, hands-on makeup workshop is for you. Explore the transformative art of drag makeup in a playful and supportive environment. We’ll cover the basics (and beyond!) of face\, contour\, exaggeration\, and character-building through makeup. Bring your own supplies if you have them – but don’t worry\, we’ll have a stash of products ready to share. Open to drag queens\, kings\, and drag artists of all kinds. Come ready to experiment\, share tips\, learn from each other\, and celebrate queer creativity.No experience necessary – just bring your fabulous self! DESCRIPTION:Starting on October 3rd we will have weekly Queer Salsa Classes at Villa Vida! All of our classes are donation-based and you can practice the role you want. Beginners class will be taking place from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. If you already have some previous knowledge of Salsa (Cuban Style) come join us at the improver class from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Please note that we will prioritize partizipants who want to commit to a regular attendance for these weekly classes.
